But despite all this, many people and companies fail to achieve their goals. Why is that? Let’s get to the bottom of it. In this blog article, I will show you why goals are not achieved and what you can do about it.
Is the formulation of objectives decisive for the achievement of objectives?
There are various options for formulating goals. One of the best known is the SMART method. It states that goals must be formulated according to the following criteria:
S = Formulated in writing
M = Made measurable
A = Be attractive
R = Be realistic
T = Have an end date
Let’s take a closer look at the formula:
S means that goals should be recorded in writing and formulated as if they had already been achieved. They must be personal, positive and formulated in the present tense. Our subconscious does not distinguish between reality and imagination – it takes everything in as we tell it/think it. That is why a correct goal formulation begins with:
- I am
- I have
- I weigh
- I earn
M means that the goal must be made measurable. For body weight it is kilograms, for income it is a concrete figure in CHF or USD. Examples:
- I weigh 72 kg!
- I earn CHF/USD 100’000.-!
A means that the goal must be attractive to you. You must really want it. Example:
- I weigh 75 kg and feel great!
R stands for realistic. What does that mean? Many people interpret it to mean that you shouldn’t set your goals too high. Instead of wanting to increase your income from CHF 100,000 to CHF 5,000,000 in one year, an increase of 20-30% would be more realistic:
- I have an annual income of 125’000.-!
T means that the target must have an end date:
- I weigh 72 kg until March 31, 2025!
Despite this method, many people do not achieve their goals. Why?
1. Reason – lack of goal structure
Many people set themselves goals that are too big and fail because they expect too much too quickly. They underestimate the power of small steps. The secret lies in breaking down goals into small, easily achievable stages. Every partial goal achieved means a sense of achievement. A sense of achievement increases motivation and gives you energy. The more you achieve, the more your belief in yourself grows – and this is crucial for achieving your goals!
Your belief in the achievability of your goal grows exponentially with the number of small steps you achieved!
2. Reason – Ecology of goals
With the ecology of goals, you check the meaning and consequences of the goals you have set. You make sure that your goal is really worthwhile and that there is no hidden resistance. You find out what you will gain and lose once you have achieved your goal. To do this, you can carry out the eco-check with the following questions:
- For what purpose do I want the goal to be achieved?
- What will I gain and what will I lose when I achieve it?
- What will happen if I achieve it?
- What will not happen if I achieve it?
- What happens if I don’t achieve it?
- What won’t happen if I don’t achieve it?
Here is a practical example (true story): A tennis player wanted to be at the top of the world. Through the eco-check, he realized that his friendships and regular social gatherings were more important to him than a complete focus on the sport. The consequence? He realized that the goal of being the best in the world was not in line with his true desires.
3. The main reason – your subconscious
Consciousness is the general state of the mind. It is creative and can generate positive thoughts. Consciousness contains the perceptions, thoughts, feelings, images and desires that are present at a particular moment. It perceives these events via the senses and the gut (gut brain) and passes the perceived information on to the subconscious mind through a filter. The filter is shaped by the personal value system, the beliefs (convictions), the experiences you have had, your upbringing/school, the environment/media and the decisions you make every day.
The subconscious is a store of instinctive and learned behaviors that are called up by corresponding stimuli. It functions habitually and always reacts to the same life signals with the same behavior. This in turn results in a person’s inner state. Their appearance and behavior in everyday life emerge from this state.
The subconscious is therefore responsible for everything in your life. 95 % of our actions are controlled by the subconscious – only 5 % are conscious decisions. It is therefore crucial to feed your subconscious mind with positive, goal-oriented thoughts.
The subconscious is neutral in every case. It does not know whether something is real or unreal. It receives all information as it is given to it. If this information is positive, specific and relates to you, then you will achieve the desired result. Everything you feed your subconscious will grow and inevitably enter your life. Therefore, you should only give your subconscious mind the thoughts and statements that positively influence your prosperity, your health, your well-being and your behavior.
Nevertheless, many people often focus on what they don’t want. They constantly feed false thoughts into their subconscious. Here is an example: let’s assume you want a certain state of “being left alone”. What would the correct statement be?
- Incorrect statement: I don’t want to be disturbed.
- Correct statement: I want to be left alone.
The word “not” is ignored by the subconscious, so the wrong statement attracts exactly the opposite in the outside world.
How does the brain work?
Habits are formed through constantly repeated thoughts and actions. According to neuroscientific studies, these form neuronal connections in the brain. Also known as synapses. The more often a thought or action is repeated, the stronger these connections become. If you consciously place positive thoughts in your brain every day, you can make lasting changes to your behavior and make it easier to achieve your goals.
How do I free my subconscious?
Our subconscious is a store of instinctive and learned behaviors that are called up by corresponding stimuli. It functions habitually and always reacts to the same life signals with the same behavior.
If people are not able to break these patterns, they will experience the same things over and over again and have the same experiences. Here are some ways to free your subconscious:
- Meditation
- Mental training (e.g. HUNA)
- Picture in picture
- TimeLine
- Resonance field healing

Conclusion – the homing mechanism inside you
Every human being has an integrated homing mechanism by nature. There are only two creatures that have this mechanism: Pigeons and humans. If you release a pigeon, it instinctively flies back to its home. Our subconscious works in a similar way. Once you have defined a clear destination as your home, your inner system is geared towards reaching it.
The journey may sometimes take longer than expected, but with the right mindset, smart goal setting, your belief and consistent execution, you will reach your goal. Set clear, smart goals, review them regularly and stick to them – your subconscious will inevitably lead you there!
